WOODEN KIT RETRO-LINE GLIDER OR ELECTRIC MODEL
The Marabu 6 is a true retro model originally from the early 1970s. Its timeless design and outstanding thermal performance back then inspired the decision to revive this model.
The construction closely follows the original plan, ensuring no noticeable differences in appearance from the original model. The internal structure has been updated to meet today's manufacturing standards as much as possible. With a detachable pendulum elevator and a two-part wing, the model is very transport-friendly.
The wing is still held to the fuselage with rubber bands, which prevents damage during rough landings. The kit and flight characteristics are suitable for beginners!
The fuselage is designed to accommodate selected components, so it is advisable to use the recommended components to avoid additional assembly effort. The Marabu 6 is particularly well-suited for thermal flights in flatlands.
The launch is most easily done with a high-start rubber in the traditional manner. With a starting height of about 90 meters, thermal connection is guaranteed with the right weather conditions.
Depending on your preference, it is also possible to equip the Marabu with a nose-mounted motor, allowing for extended, effortless flights. The airfoil used is now a cr001sm, which is visually very similar to the original from the 70s but significantly thinner at 7.3%.
This retains the original, very pleasant slow-flight characteristics, making it excellent for circling in thermals. With a flight weight of about 900g (glider version), the model's strength clearly lies in thermal flight. Slope soaring is also possible under light wind conditions.
The model is entirely constructed of wood. The instructions are designed so that the construction steps are understandable for the advanced model builder. Pictures of the construction stages further clarify the steps, hopefully leaving no questions unanswered.
